Fabric Reinforcing Mesh
In many construction applications such as reinforcing, a welded mesh fabric is preferred to rebar, particularly if Ferro-Fabrik is used. Ferro-Fabrik is a top quality product conforming to SANS 1024:2012. It has greater features and strengths than rebar (minimum 485Mpa) allowing a material saving of ±8%, and allows for time saving when fixing on site.
Features of Reinforcing Mesh
- The unique deformed wire pattern (curry pattern) offers superior bonding, improved stress distribution and crack-width control.
- Ferro-Fabrik is available in a wide range of diameters and apertures. The product can be bent to shape as required.
- Manufactured from hard drawn wire (smooth) and cold rolled wire (deformed).
- All intersections are resistant-welded thereby not reducing the tensile strength of the wires.
- Mesh has an average shear strength equal to 80% of the wire strength.
- The wire used has physical properties which are rigidly controlled to produce mesh with maximum weld strength combined with ductility.
- Appropriate customer solutions
- Specifications allow for cold rolled wire with a minimum ultimate tensile strength of 510Mpa and a high resistance to fatigue.
- Mesh is available in black and galvanised (pre-galvanised) sheets or rolls.
Lattice Girders
Lattice girders serve some of the best functions in construction support systems. Lattice Girders are lightweight, can be handled easily without special equipment and therefore are best suited in slab reinforcement, making it easy to install. It is used, where concreting is performed in two stages, mainly as reinforcement of prefabricated slabs and beams. The product is manufactured from cold drawn high tensile black deformed or smooth wire.
Unique benefits and applications of Lattice Girders
- Lightweight and easy to install
- Suitable for Fence posts, roof trusses, purlins and pre-cast beam / slab reinforcement
- Widely used in mining tunnelling for roof support
- The diagonal lines of steel give support in all directions, helping to prevent the Lattice Girder from bending
- Quality assurance – Manufactured to the ISO9001:2008 Specifications
Galvanised Welded Mesh
Galvanised welded mesh is used in many industry sectors such as agriculture for fencing and enclosures, building and construction for site establishments, meshing and lacing purposes in the mining industry, gabion boxes for retaining walls as well as in the general South African household.
Galvanised welded mesh is produced to the highest standards of quality. Thorough testing of wire strength and aperture size is carried out during all stages of manufacturing.
Galvanised welded mesh is manufactured from galvanised wire
(Class A: >260g/m2 and Class C: 40-70g/m2), resistance welded at intersections, allowing the mesh to be cut or bent to any shape as required. This maintains the tensile strength of the wires.
Weldmesh Gabions and Mattresses
Weldmesh Gabions and Mattresses are manufactured from lightly galvanised
(Class C > 100g/m²) wire of 5.6mm diameter (UTS 500 – 700 Mpa) and have minimum weld shear strength of 9.3 KN. BRC Mesh offers these options for specific applications.
Weldmesh Gabions offer a wide variety of uses in all types of hydraulic structures,
Including:
- Retaining Structures – Retaining walls, revetments, column basis and toe walls to embankments, bridge protection and cuttings.
- Anti-erosion structures – sea walls, riverbank embankments, canal, damn, weirs and reservoirs.
- Landscaping and architectural applications.
Quick ties / Bale Ties
Quickties is a double loop Bale Tie manufactured with a high tensile Galvanised wire and is primarily used in the quick tying of cotton and Wool bales. Our Bale Ties are manufactured with a 3.66mm High Tensile galvanised wire and has a minimum breaking strength of 1400MPa.
Unique benefits
- Lightweight and easy to use
- Durable and economical
- Fit for heavy tasks
- Suitable for hand tying and automated systems
- Galvanised Quickties are high corrosion resistant
- Manufactured to our clients required lengths
Gusset Weld Mine Screening Mesh / Blast on Mesh
GWMS (Gusset Weld Mine Screening) mesh manufactured with high tensile galvanised steel wire and protects against rock bursts and rock falls in underground mining and tunnelling.
GWMS is produced to the highest standards of quality. Thorough testing of wire strength and aperture size is carried out during all stages of manufacturing.
Unique benefits of GWMS
- By installing our GWMS mesh it drastically reduces the risk of injuries and fatalities.
- Extremely strong and durable.
- Available in different sizes to suit the different application needs.
- The mesh is flush cut on all sides to prevent injuries during the handling process and is safe and easy to install.
- Easy transportation and storage of GWMS mesh.

Resin Anchored Roof Bolts
Roof bolt assemblies for resin anchoring (chemical anchoring) comprise of the stud, nut, bearing plate washer and a selection of accessories and modifications which can be configured to suit particular installation and rock support requirements. Roof bolt assemblies are packaged as complete, ready-to install units.
Advantages of the product
- Provides stiff support
- Ensure a cost effective support system
- Improved anchorage in friable ground
- Unique ribbed design provides for effective mixing and anchorage
Bearing Plates (Washers)
Bearing plates are used with rock anchor installations to provide a real support and load distribution to the rock surface in the vicinity of the installation. Bearing plates differ in their surface profile, material thickness and size, as well as hole diameter.
- Flat
- Flat bearing plates are simple plates, provided with a hole for the bolt.
- Domed
- The surface of the plate is pressed into a domed profile. Dome bearing plates are selected for applications where the hole and the rock surface are not at right angles, for example angled holes or uneven rock surface. Used with a spherical seat or a ball-nosed nut the bearing plate is able to articulate under the seat enabling self-alignment and ensuring flush contact with the rock surface.
- The hole in the domed bearing plate is therefore necessarily of a greater diameter than the bar diameter. The domed profile also provides greater pull-through strength, enabling the steel content to be optimised.
- Ribbed
- The surface of ribbed bearing plate is pressed into four ribs, radiating from a domed central portion around the hole.
- The ribbed profile provides strength and stiffness. Ribbed bearing plates are selected for applications where bolts are installed at right angles to the plane of the rock and where flat rock surfaces are experienced. The hole size provides a loose fit for the bar but does not allow excessive play.
- Dog Ear
- Most bearing plates are provided with a dog ear corner equipped with a hole. This provides for the suspension of lightweight items such as trailing-cables, vent brattices, etc.
